Jesus loved Deuteronomy. He quoted from it more often than from any other Old Testament book except Psalms. This is the account of Moses's last time talking to the people of Israel before his death. He pleads with them to understand the depth of God’s covenant commitment and faithfulness to them. They are his “treasured possession.” More than anything, Deuteronomy is about the love and grace of God for his people. Deuteronomy is as much for God’s people today as it was for God’s people encamped on the banks of the Jordan River over three thousand years ago. Moses speaks to us today and pleads with us to know how much God loves us and how much grace he has for us.
